THE IRON LADY. Phyllida Lloyd, 2011. By Julia
The Iron Lady is a historical film based on the biography of Margaret Thatcher, who is the only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Through her distorted perspective the Director shows us the most relevant facts in the life of Margaret. In the first scene appears an elderly, lonely widow with dementia. Then, in flashback, she enters politics and meets her husband, a successful businessman, Denis Thatcher (Jim Broadbent). During the time as Prime Minister, Margaret shows her authority and her inability to accept advice from her colleagues. There are several scenes where we can appreciate this feature. The director, and of course Meryl Streep, have done an excellent job in this regard. So, the movie is worth seeing.
Thanks a bunch, Julia!
