The Iron Lady, by Yolanda G.

Basically, this is a British biographical film directed by Phillyda Lloyd in 2011 and based on Margaret Thatcher's life, the first and the only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the 20th century.

In a series of flashbacks an elder Margaret Thutcher (played by Meryl Streep) is remembering different important moments of her life. She has dementia, so she can´t distinguish present and past. You can see from a young lower-class lady to a strong and powerful woman that becomes a Primer Minister nicknamed as “The Iron Lady”.

This moving film shows us the raise and fall of Margaret and the things that she has to give up to become a powerful woman and not “one of those women who stay silent in the arms of her husband”

Regarding the most memorable scene, there is one in which she says “I have done battle every single day of my life“. Obviously, this represents how much she has had to fight to be in charge in a world of men.
Finally, I want to add that Meryl Streep played the character wonderfully, and that has led her to win two BAFTA, one Golden Globe and one Oscar.
