MTB studios are there and a lot of theatres are in Broadway like the Lyon King which has been represented for long. In Times Square you can find a place to buy tikets for the theatre. It is also a meeting point for singers.Regarding the story of Times Square some time ago there used to be sex shops and sex cinemas but not nowdays. But, of course, the reason why Times Square is so famous it is because the New Year Eve is celebreted where newyorkers are mixed with people from all over the world.

Broadway across Manhattan from the North to the South and nowadays is well-known for the theaters and spectacles that we can see there. Although theaters and spectacles started at the end of the ninetinth century and little by little growed in importance until now.

    1. Not only for tourists, but also for locals, I agree that Times Square is the place to be, and eating at restaurants is undoubtedly a great choice, especially if combined with the dazzling lights and a play in Broadway.
A well known place for freedom? Of course it is unique for that, you won't see anywhere else in the world what you see there. The most important journals and TV stations are there too.
It has historically been a crossroads, especially when we talk about Broadway, which is nowadays the place for theatres and performances.
It is true that everything started there in the 19th century, and it has grown a lot sinc.
New Year's Eve, maybe the best one in December in the world to celebrate the new year.
To put it in a nutshell, NYC is the heart of the world, true!

  3. Placed among 7th avenue, 42nd street and Broadway, Times Square is maybe the most famous crossroads in the world. Appart of a touristic destination, Times Square is also a cultural centre in New York City. It´s the home of some of the most important American tv channels like MTV or ABC and the busiest theatre district in the world.

The most important event celebrated every year at Times Square is the New Year´s Eve. More than a celebration, it´s became a tradition with an estimated million people in the square and over a billion watching on tv all through the world. People there can enjoy musical performances, balloons, confeti and everything for a good new year´s eve party.

Appart from seing the place itself, there are many things to do around Times Square. You can visit some of the many theatres on Broadway, buy in many shops, or just take an organized walking tour to see everything. For dining you can visit the Restaurant Row, on 46th street, where you can enjoy cuisine from all over the world.

But Times Square is not a new thing. By 1928 over 264 shows were produced in 76 theatres there, and it was a crowded, full of life place. After the World War II, prostitution and sex theatres defined the area and it went into a decay for some time. It returned in the past two decades. The crowds came back and the place recovered it´s lost greatness.

Some of the theatres in Broadway are a choice for the visitor, of course!
It has changed a lot if we take into account that after World War II it became a place in decay but its lost greatness has been regained, that's for sure!

  4. When we say "Times Square" we are talking about the cultural centre of New York, which also is, in fact, the most cultural city in United States, so we can imagine how important this intersection is.
The fact is that Times Square is the busiest theatre district in the world, and in this place we can also find the home of very important televison channels like ABC or MTV, and the Hard Rock Cafe and other restaurants, so the boredom has to be forbidden there.
But there have been changes in Times Square in the last century. For example, where we can find a kids theatre today, there was a sex theatre somes years before, and prostitution filled the place like the crowd does today.
Another interesting thing is the New Year's Eve, when people from the entire world celebrate the beginning of the year shouting the countdown together and watching how descends the New Year's Eve Ball.

In the videos we can see different people talking about that place: their first memories of Times Square, how some avenues have changed in the last years or what they love most. They stand out the sense of community among Manhattan inhabitants, and describe the place as happy, exciting and dynamic.
In New York City there's a famous street, Broadway road, that runs from South to North across the city. The best known portion runs through Manhattan where there are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, but the most well-known local is Hard Rock Cafe.

  6. Times Square is definitely the most famous intersection of all New York City.
Brodway, 7th Avenue and 42nd street go together to the heart of Manhattan.

Nowadays Times Square is known for its advertisements, buildings, shops open day and night, and restaurants which offer a diverse selection of international cuisine.

However Times Square has changed from the past up to nowadays. Some decades ago Times Square acquired a questionable reputation due to the amount of sex shops and sex cinemas that there were.
Today, some of them have been transformed into theatres for kids and families.

One of the most important events that take place in Times Square is New Year's Eve. A little ball drops down at midnight and people from all over the world congregate to celebrate the beginning of a new year.

  7. When someone talks us about New York, the dazzling neon lights of Times Square come immediately to our mind. There isn´t anyone in the world who doesn´t know the famous intersection among Broadway, 42nd Street and 7th Avenue. This popular crossroads is the centre of American culture, a lively place where people can enjoy watching performances, having a coffee in the Hard Rock Cafe or just admiring the urban planning. However, Times Square wasn´t always a place plenty of culture. There was a time when sex cinemas invaded the district. Fortunately, the police worked hard to recover the safety to the place.

We can´t talk about Times Square without mention Broadway, which is the oldest avenue in NYC. Even if this avenue is famous for its theatres and cinemas, only The Minskoff Theatre is located on Broadway.

But Times Square is more than this famous feature, you can also go shopping, go dining, watch breathtaking buildings and of course, go to the theatre and enjoy one of the best musical performances in the world.
Who has never heard about Broadway? Broadway is the oldest street in New York City which runs the length of Manhattan Island and is known worlwide for his large theatres and performances. Hundreds of tourists come every year to see one of the most famous free show in the world, the dazzling lights of the Great White Way's theatres.

So, why not book a holiday package to New York City?

  11. The first impression I have to see Times Square is that there, you could find represented all the world's cultures. Is it the symbol of power? It is too much information to be collected in a short spare time. I believe I would need rather than ten years to understand what happens in a single day. Everything is new for me, of course, it looks to be fantastic.
I wish I could visit it, walking from a street to another, listening to people, watching their faces, gestures, drinking some coffee from time to time… Are there poor people? I don’t think so. Poverty becomes music. Unemployment is just the product of sick minds. It's a lie. Come on! People living on the street are just observers. Everything is OK! ”Humanity not at its best or worst but at its most. This is the Times Square philosophy but, usually, most is best and is worst. Up to them. Well, if I have to visit it, I would like to celebrate the New Year’ festivity and see how the big ball drops. As far I understand, his descent to mark the new year is a tradition than has been maintained since 1907. On the other hand, I don’t have too much information about the History of the Times Square. In the nineteenth century the proprietor was John Scott an official under the command of George Washington- Things were different then. That field was dedicated to the cultivation and breeding of horses. In 1904 the New York Times newspaper moved its offices to this place. The rest was a history of cinemas, restaurants, tourists, entertainment, drugs, games, prostitution and occasional riots. By the way, do you have some information about Charles Becker? He was the first American police officer to receive the death penalty for murder. Most of his work was done on the streets surrounding Times Square. I invite you to know his particular history.

By 1928, some 264 shows were produced in 76 theatres in Times Square. Today it remains the busiest theatre district in the world, and is also the publishing house and the center of cafes.

It was also here that writers redefined what news was – how it was to be written and reported, and what counted. Now very important radio stations and the New York Times as well are here.

Explanation of the major theme, events and minor topics and issues.
One of the most popular themes on Times Square is the celebration of New Year's Eve. It has become more than a local celebration, it’s a global event.
On the other hand, to attend a Broadway show is to be part of an exclusive event in the world.

What new knowledge you have gained about Times Square.
A lot of new things about Times Square have been written above. We can add some information about its shape, Times Square is not a square but a bow tie, formed by the intersection of seventh avenue and broadway in Midtown Manhattan.
The dazzling lights of the Great White Way's theatres have fascinated fans nationwide for over a century, and Times Square has become an outdoor laboratory for new ways to communicate and advertise.

Your discoveries as regards places and events.
If you travel to New York and visit Times Square, you can start at the Times Square Museum & Visitor Center on 7th avenue, sit atop times square's glass red staircase and watch the world go by under more than 40 electronic billboards, see a broadway show on the Great White Way, dinner on historic restaurant row, where celebrity chefs and an array of international cuisines offer their best menus or take in the nightlife at one of the cocktail bars or music venues.

  13. I've never been to New York so I've learned lots of things about Times Square. I suppose bustling Gran Via in Madrid is a kind of reduced version since a number of important roads diverge there.
Although years ago they've to take away most of the neon signs and posters in movement, they keep a good representation like the neon "Tío Pepe" sign.
It's flanked by large department stores, retail shops, cinemas and fast food restaurants on every side.
On New Year's Eve thousands of people coming from all around the world gather in Puerta del Sol to count down to the chimes of the clock above Casa de Correos and eat a grape for every toll.
