If I only had ...

If I only had five minutes to live, what would I do? In fact, this is a very difficult question for me, a nearly fifty-year-old married man and father of four children. I Wish I would never have to face such a problem. However, if I were at home with my family it would be much more difficult to face this situation. I would give a kiss to my kids and ask them to look after their mother. A message saying “Goodbye, I wish you all the best” would be sent to some of my friends and a great hug would be given to my wife. I think I would not have enough time to do more. And now, an idea to consider and think about: we know that some day we're going to die, but we do not know when. I'm sure that if we knew when we were going to die all our latest thoughts would focus on our loved ones. And, in case you were a religious person, perhaps you would spend your latest minutes of life saying a prayer. There is a famous saying that says: "Whoever does not reconcile with death, cannot have a completely full life." Therefore, we have no justification for making last minute changes in our lifestyle just because we know that our death is coming. We have to enjoy daily life, living it as if it could end at any time: Carpe diem, as the ancient Romans said.
