The Iron Lady Phyllida Lloyd 2011

The Iron Lady  Phyllida Lloyd  2011

Few subjects have been more discussed in recent decades than women's revolution, and Margaret Thatcher is one of the icons of this revolution. In this film Meryl Streep admirably plays Margaret Thatcher in her adult and old life, making visible how her stormy life took toll on her health.

The Iron Lady is a biographical film that narrates the life of the only woman who has ever held the post of Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. During the film we can see Margaret Tatcher in her eighties, struggling with dementia and confused about the present and the past, while her defining moments are shown in a series of flashbacks.

The film is full of memorable sentences but I would like to highlight the moment in which Lady Thatcher interrupts one of the deputies of her party by telling him "with all due repect Sir, I have done battle every single day of my life". Although the film was criticized and praised depending on whom, no one doubts Meryl Streep's performance is brilliant, actually she was awarded with The Golden Globe, The BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and the Oscar.

  1. Great, Rosa, good job! And thanks a bunch for posting it yourself on our blog, well done!
